Teachers / Educators - Online & Free!!
This session offers exclusive access to The Australian Ballet’s Outreach team for Riverina dance teachers and schools, made possible through your relationship with the Roxy Community Theatre.
The session will be presented by Jasmin Dwyer, Producer, Education and Outreach with The Australian Ballet, and will provide valuable professional development for teachers, including practical ways to use dance in the classroom and support students’ creative and choreographic development. Kennedy will also share information about the upcoming Australian Ballet workshops at the Roxy.

Dancing Story: For Preschoolers

Ages 3-5 Years | $20 per session
Get your littlies started in dance with the help of The Australian Ballet teachers!
These dance workshops promote movement, skill development, working with others, sequencing and literacy, and have been designed to be accessible to all children regardless of learning styles or physical abilities.
No previous dance experience is required!

Dance/Movement For Adults & Seniors (Ages 40+)
Wed, 7 Oct 11:00am or Thurs, 8 Oct 1:00pm | $50 per session
As we age it is important to keep our stength, balance, and flexiblitiy in check. Exercises in this workshop are designed to build strength and mobility, improve balance, and increase hand-eye coordination, memory and musicality.
Dance/Movement for Seniors is an inclusive ballet class designed to provide a gentle, structured, and enjoyable dance experience (for anyone 40 years and over). Exercises follow the barre and centre format of a traditional ballet class and include references to the music and productions of The Australian Ballet.
The Tempest /Hag-Seed | Tuesday, 30 June | 1:30pm | Years 9-12
This interactive symposium invites students to explore The Tempest’s enchanting characters, poetic language, and transformative themes, with a direct contrast and comparison to Margaret Atwood’s Hag-Seed
This tempest is not only in Prospero – the storm lies in the contradictions and ambiguities the story throws up about freedom and slavery, civilisation and barbarism, legacy and letting go, lust and chastity, youth and age, revenge and forgiveness. The sea is a place of transformation but also represents the capriciousness of nature, chaos, or fate.
Duration: 2 Hours 30 Minutes (Including performance, analysis, discussion and brief interval)

Take your dance skills to the next level with the help of The Australian Ballet Dance Educators!
Explore the world of ballet through warm-ups and dance exercises, develop new creative and choreographic skills, and co-create a new dance over 3 days. The workshops will be crafted around students’ skill level, ensuring everyone is involved.
You’ll learn about the performance of Balar Diburr, a new Contemporary-Ballet duet based on a First Nations story, performed by The Australian Ballet Education and Outreach team, and hear about costume design, music, and storytelling.
On the final day, students will get the opportunity to perform to friends and family, along-side a performance by the Australian Ballet Education and Outreach team.
Expect to move, have fun and be creative!

Throughout the multiday workshops, you will collaborate with others to create an original dance piece to share with family and friends.

On the final day, participants will perform their new dance, followed by a special performance from The Australian Ballet Education and Outreach Team.

Peformance: Balar Diburr

This contemporary-ballet duet tells a story of growth and resilience through the journey of the balar diburr (bernie bean), a native seed from the rainforest lands of Kubirri (Mossman, North Queensland). Guided by the wisdom of animals and shaped by its journey through land and water, Balar gains the strength to step beyond its comfort zone and find its purpose, identity, and legacy. Grounded in First Nations storytelling and cultural knowledge, Balar Diburr invites young audiences to reflect on change, perseverance and finding one’s place in the world
