Gala Opening Concert - Stage 1
Roxy Community Theatre Official Reopening
On Saturday 1 March 2025, The Roxy Community Theatre hosted a Gala Concert to celebrate the opening of Stage 1 of the redeveloped Roxy Community Theatre. The concert was also a celebration of home-grown Leeton artists who performed on the stage of the Roxy to a full house!
Leeton’s community arts scene is a dynamic one; from theatrical groups to multicultural vocal performances, the Shire has a broad spectrum of artforms being practiced by local community members on a regular basis. What better way to open the Roxy Community Theatre than to ensure these community groups have first access to it!
Their performances will constitute a dual purpose: firstly, to welcome everyone back to the venue by putting Community at the heart of this process; and secondly, to help the project managers to commission the building itself.
Building commissioning is a systematic process to test a facility’s overall design and functionality before its occupancy. Commissioning agents involve themselves in several activities for both new and existing buildings, from planning and design to operations and testing. Doing so ensures that a building is at its optimal state and conforms with the building owner’s requirements.

Having served us so magnificently for over 90 years, it was time to breathe new life into “Our Grand Old Lady” so that she is fit to serve us for another 100 years as Leeton’s “Palace of Dreams”. We are certain that the original developer and proprietor, Don Conson, would be feeling very pleased with where his Roxy is at today and how the vision for “artistic excellence” continues to be honoured in Leeton.
