Frequently Asked Questions
Arrive at the 'Doors Open' time specified on your ticket. Doors open 30 minutes prior to a show (Unless otherwise adviced) to enable suitable time to purchase refreshments and find your seats.
Live theatre has a ‘lock-out’ policy; a period after the curtain goes up when late-comers are not permitted to enter the auditorium. Lock-out periods are set by the production and vary from show to show. Patrons arriving late will not be admitted until a suitable break in the performance. Our ushers will advise you when you can enter the auditorium.
We want you to feel comfortable when you come to our place so we have complied a few tips (please see below) to make your visit memorable.
Sometimes there will be an indication of dress code on your ticket or in the show’s promotional materials. There is no strict dress code, however we recommend smart casual as a minimum. Please avoid thongs and work singlets.
No hats should be worn during the performance as they can cause an obstruction to the person sitting behind you. If your view is obstructed by the person in front of you, see one of our ushers immediately and they will assist where possible.
Whilst you are welcome to take snacks and soft drinks bought at our bar with you into the theatre, we do NOT allow patrons to bring their own pre-purchased snacks (lollies, chips, biscuits), soft drinks, or take external alcohol, hot food or beverages, strong smelling food into the auditoriums. Our theatre bars provide a wide range of refreshments that you are able to take into the auditorium and consume during the show.
Additional Tips:
-
Please unwrap your food prior to the performance and take care when holding sweet/lolly or ice cream packaging to not create too much noise
-
For everyone’s safety, please keep your glass in your hand (NOT on the floor) in the auditorium and remember to return it to the bar in interval or at the end of the show.
-
Our box office is located within the theatre foyers and is open half an hour before the show to allow you to collect your tickets. You will need to provide identification and present the credit card used to purchase the tickets.
We welcome any feedback that you may have. Please email (roxy@leeton.nsw.gov.au ) your feedback including the date and time you attended the theatre.
For closer seating to the stage we recommend sitting at the front of the Stalls (accessed via the ground floor). The distance between the centre seat in the specified row and stage (measured from the cinema screen) is:
- Stalls, Row AA = approximately 7 metres
- Stalls, Row DD = approximately 10 metres
- Stalls, Row HH = approximately 14 metres
- Dress Circle, Row A = approximately 18 metres and Row K= approximately 28m
Stalls seating is raked and gradually inclines from Row BB right to the back of the Stalls. Patrons will be at eye level with the action on Stage at around Row FF.
Seats in the Balcony: H1 and K1 are both sight restricted.
For closer seating to the stage we recommend sitting at the front of the Stalls.
Our HEARING LOOP amplifies sound to all seats throughout the theatre. If you would like to use this service, please arrive early and drop by the Box Office to collect a receiver / headset.
Purchase tickets in the Balcony (Upstairs) and you will be able to use the elevator to get there, recommended seating in the Balcony with minimum steps is Row D. Otherwise, sitting in any location in the Stalls (Downstairs) means there will only be a few very small stairs to negotiate, recommended Rows include AA & BB. Our Ushers are also very helpful, so please ask them for assistance.
The Roxy Community Theatre is fully accessible with wheelchair-friendly seating, street level access to the venue, and lift access to the dress circle and other facilities. If you have seating requirements, please let us know when buying your ticket.
Yes, accredited service dogs are allowed to enter the theatre. Please make sure you bring accreditation proof with you to the ROXY as our ushers will need to sight this before allowing entry. Service dogs must remain on the floor at all times.
There are 2 mobility car parks on Pine Avenue close to the ROXY and 4 others on Wade Avenue (south). There is also 1 mobility car park in Chelmsford Place.
Free street parking (timed) is available along Pine and Wade Avenues. For large vehicles or coaches, please park in the free car park in Sycamore St (behind the main street) and work to the ROXY via Chelmsford Place.
SMS ticketing is like E-Tickets (print-at-home tickets) but instead of having to print off the tickets yourself, you can just show the ticket barcode on your mobile phone. E-Tickets will arrive into your email inbox as an attachment to an email from TicketSearch Administration. Please be ready to show these PDFs when you arrive at the ROXY.
Yes, items handed into our Lost Property department are recorded and registered. If you have lost something at the Roxy, please email us (roxy@leeton.nsw.gov.au ) and we will make every effort to locate your lost item.
Children under the age of 12 years old cannot attend on their own and must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Everyone attending a ticketed event at the ROXY Community Theatre must have a ticket, including children sitting on your lap under the age of two (a ‘babe-in-arms’ ticket is usually free and can be obtained from our box office on the day of the performance). Some shows are not suitable for small children; please check the information about each show. If your child becomes unsettled, they will need to be taken out to the foyer so as not to disrupt the performance.

-
in person at the Roxy Box Office (half an hour before the show or any time the theatre is open)

No filming of photopgrahy (with or without flash) is allowed during the performance (unless the presenter has given permission for this in promotional materials on our web site). You are encouraged to snap a special memory from your visit inside our auditorium before the show, at interval or once the show has finished. Some productions will notify you if photography is permitted during the curtain call.
No mobile phones during the performance as it is highly disruptive to patrons in the seats all around you and our performers. This includes; texting, checking emails, using your phone torch, playing games, or checking the time. If you have an urgent situation and need to use your mobile phone, please step out into the foyer for a moment to do so.
No talking or singing during the show. We understand it is tempting to talk about something that is happening on stage with your friend, however talking during the performance is disruptive to other guests and performers. You can’t sing along either, please leave that to the professionals and save your performance for the trip home. Of course, there are sometimes events that ask you to participate in the fun. So, when the presenter has given permission for this to happen, we’ll let you know in promotional materials and via our web site.
Entering and exiting the theatre during the show should be kept to a minimum. If you do need to exit or enter the auditorium, please do so at the end of a song when the audience is applauding, or when directed by an usher. When you return, follow the instructions of our ushers who will get you back to your seat safely and with minimum disruption.
Be aware of those patrons sitting either side of you. Try and stay within the boundaries of your seat and do not take up both arm rests. Where possible try not to fidget and keep your feet on the floor.
You may be asked to leave the theatre if you or someone in your group is disruptive and does not comply with the instructions from our Front of House team. Our role is to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all the patrons who are watching the show.
Restless babies and children are not uncommon during a 3-hour production. If you find your child has become vocal or too restless to stay in their seat, please step outside into our foyer and you will be able to watch and listen to a live feed of the show until your child is settled enough to return to the auditorium. Please check the age recommendation for the show prior to purchasing your tickets as some shows are not suitable for younger children.
