Through his hardships in 1880s rural Australia, Paterson’s time as a writer and lawyer in the dusty, dirty streets of Sydney, and his bitter return to the country, BANJO follows Paterson’s dreams of a wilder Australia.

This unique musical delivers an “incredibly moving experience” (Former NSW Arts Minister, Ben Franklin). The masterful weaving of Paterson’s verse, Coldplay’s music, and contemporary dance creates a raw, contemporary, and honest journey of love, connection, and sacrifice. For Schools

Spend time with the performers and creators of BANJO: the Musical in this immersive schools workshop experience.

This acclaimed multi-artform production weaves together the music of Coldplay, the poetry of Banjo Paterson, contemporary dance, acting, and live music to create one of Australia’s most celebrated touring works in recent years.

Students will gain unique insight into how artists from different disciplines — acting, dance, and live music — collaborated to bring BANJO to life. Through practical exploration and conversation, the company will share their creative process, rehearsal techniques, and the realities of working as professional performers.

Importantly, each performer-creator is proudly regionally based. This workshop is designed to inspire young regional artists by demonstrating the value, viability, and creative strength of building a professional arts career from regional Australia.
